ExoCall Help
Set Up Your AI Agent
Your agent's personality, voice, and knowledge all live in Settings. Ten minutes of writing here decides whether callers feel they're talking to a sharp member of your team or a generic bot.
1. Identity and voice
In Settings → Business & Agent Identity, set your business name and give the agent a human name (Priya, Ravi, Alex — callers respond better to a name than to "AI assistant"). Then pick one of the 10 Gemini voices (Aoede, Puck, Fenrir, Kore, Lyra, and more) — use the play button next to each to hear a sample before choosing.
2. Persona
The persona describes who the agent is and how it talks. Be specific — age, tone, languages, and response length all shape the conversation:
You are Priya, a 24-year-old female customer support agent. You are warm, professional, and speak fluent Hindi and English. Keep responses short — 1 to 3 sentences only.
Keep responses short
On a phone call, long AI monologues feel robotic and invite interruptions. "1 to 3 sentences only" in the persona is the single highest-impact line you can write.
3. Greetings
Inbound greeting — what the agent says when answering a call. Example: "A customer is calling. Greet them warmly and ask how you can help."
Outbound greeting — how the agent opens when it dials out (campaigns, callbacks, API calls). Example: "The customer has answered. Introduce yourself and begin based on the call purpose." On outbound calls the agent also receives the specific call purpose you or your campaign supplied.
4. Business Knowledge — what the agent knows
This is the agent's brain. Write it like a briefing document for a new employee:
- 1
What you sell
Products/services with prices, variants, and what's included. Real numbers — the agent will be asked "kitna hoga?" on every call.
- 2
Logistics
Timings, locations, delivery areas, booking process, payment options (UPI, cash, EMI…).
- 3
Policies
Refunds, rescheduling, guarantees — whatever callers argue about.
- 4
Top questions
Write your 10 most common customer questions with ideal answers. Check the "unanswered questions" field in Call Logs weekly and add whatever the agent couldn't answer — this is how the agent gets smarter every week.
5. Behaviour toggles
Caller memory — inject the caller's last 3 call summaries so returning callers are recognised. On by default.
Auto callback — when a caller asks to be called back ("call me tomorrow at 5"), ExoCall schedules and automatically dials the callback at that time. On by default.
Auto-injected instructions — read-only, always active
Below your prompt, Settings shows the system-managed instruction blocks ExoCall always appends: polite call-ending rules (the agent never hangs up mid-conversation, always asks "anything else?" first) and WhatsApp rules (send only when the customer asks). They're displayed exactly as the agent receives them.
Common questions
What should go in Business Knowledge?›
Everything a great human agent would know: your products and services, prices, timings, locations, policies, payment options, and answers to your most common questions. The AI can only answer from what you write here — if callers keep asking something it cannot answer, add that information to Business Knowledge.
Which languages can the agent speak?›
Twelve Indian languages including Hindi, English, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Kannada, and Hinglish. You do not need to configure anything — the agent detects the caller's language automatically and can switch mid-conversation.
What is caller memory?›
When a caller who has spoken to you before calls again, ExoCall injects their last 3 call summaries into the agent's context. The agent greets them by name, remembers their earlier enquiry, and never asks the same questions twice. You can toggle this off in Settings if you prefer every call to start fresh.
Why does my agent end calls or send WhatsApp on its own?›
Those behaviours come from the auto-injected instructions shown at the bottom of Settings — system-managed rules for ending calls politely and sending WhatsApp only when the customer asks. They are always active and are shown to you verbatim so there are no surprises; you don't need to (and shouldn't) repeat them in your own prompt.
